The beginning of Collective Minds
On Tuesday the 10th of September, Robina Town Centre introduced the Gold Coast community to an inspiring new dimension to the perception of mental health with the official launch of the Collective Minds Photography Exhibition.
The Collective Minds exhibition hosts pieces from twenty-one selected photographers and is 'a series of works from renowned and emerging local photographers, depicting mental health through their own lens in the aim to support LIVIN's vital work and ignite the conversations surrounding mental health.'
The launch evening was attended by over a hundred invited guests including some of the incredible photographers that have contributed their amazing images for the exhibition which will be sold in an online silent auction as a fundraiser for the LIVIN Charity.
"Mental illness looks completely different to each and every person and to see the descriptions next to each one of these wonderful photos showing what the artistic representation from the artist is about what mental health means to them, is just amazing." Said Co-Founder Casey Lyons. "And all of these descriptions joined together can go a long way to break the stigmas surrounding mental health and we are so grateful to the team at Robina Town Centre and all those involved in bringing this exhibition together."
Marketing Manager of Robina Town Centre, Ashlee Hume created the concept of the exhibition and was overwhelmed with the response from the photographers and businesses that contributed in making the space the inspiring place that it is, "With Robina Town Centre being such a place of mass social gathering, we understand our purpose within the community is not solely transactional, but emotional, with the centre often acting as an escape, a refuge from reality, and a place of hope or inspiration." Said Ashlee. "Art can inspired us to look at things differently and we hope, thought this special collaboration with LIVIN, we will challenge attitudes and shake up preconceptions around mental illness in our community."
This incredible photography exhibition officially opens today at Robina Town Centre to coincide with R U OK? Day and will run until the end of Mental Health Week which concludes on the 13th of October with the opportunity to own one of these inspiring original pieces through the silent online auction. The exhibition will finish with the announcement of the winners of the online auction when it closes midnight on Sunday the 13th of October.
