MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH MUSIC

MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH MUSIC

Sharing a story and a spreading awareness can be done on many platforms and the message of music is always a powerful way for people to connect with a message, especially when it comes to people dealing with their own personal struggles.

Coming from hardships that few of us could imagine, a story of survival and achievement has been spoken through the lyrics of an artist who is determined to make a difference and reaffirm that even when we are faced with adversity, we can get through it.

At the age of 11, Daniel Harvey and his twin brother found themselves homeless after leaving a destructive home environment.  At the age of 14, the brothers were given the opportunity of a place at a refuge centre.  What they didn’t realise was they were to be placed at different refuge centres and would not see each other again until a chance meeting two years later.

Fast forward to today and after winning the 2018 Gold for the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California, Daniel aka D Minor has released a single ‘Concrete Pillow’ which describes his journey and is his way of telling his story to help and inspire others who are struggling.  Released through the incredible initiative of Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD), D Minor is enthusiastic about his opportunity to help make a different and to let people know that no matter what they are struggling with, homelessness, mental illness, there is the opportunity to come out the other end.

“Concrete Pillow is important to me as I want to bring awareness to the situation and inspire others experiencing others.” Said Daniel.

“I believe that everyone struggles, everyone goes through hard times, whether it be mental health, homelessness or struggling with any difficult situations that life throws at you.  Once you hit rock bottom all that is, is a solid foundation to build up from.”

Daniel is now part of the mentor program with MMAD helping others who are struggling find their outlet through music. To check out his story in his own words, click here to check out D-Minors single, Concrete Pillow and get ready to be inspired and speak up.
